TN Racing announced a new sponsorship deal at Brands Hatch during rounds 3-5 of the MG Trophy Championship. The team were pleased to welcome Evans Waterless Coolant and thank them for their support during the weekend and for the future.
After qualifying on Saturday the Evans Coolant support crew converted the coolant on both TN Racing cars to their product, Power Cool 180. The process took less than an hour and was very straightforward, with all water having to be purged from the cooling systems.
The benefits of running the waterless coolant were clear after just one race, particularly as without it, Dan’s car may not have completed the opening round at Brands Hatch.
Just before the race the team noticed the radiator was losing fluid but elected to race nevertheless. They were able to do so because the new coolant hardly expands when heated, meaning the loss would be minimal during a race.
Sure enough at the end of the race the coolant system had only lost just over 1cm from the header tank, something that would have been impossible in a water based system.
Team Principle Blaine said “After some consideration we chose to send the car out and I told Dan to monitor the temps carefully. A normal coolant system would have failed but we knew that the new coolant wouldn’t force fluid out under pressure. We were still wary but the car finished and we got the points.”
